How to become a DGuitar Developer
Hello
First of all thanks for your interest in developing/contributing to DGuitar.
Process to become part of the project
- Get the latest Dguitar version here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=110320
- Select one or two tasks from the TODO.TXT and let me know which ones have you picked.
- After I let you know that nobody else is working on those tasks, review the Technical Documents
- Let me know how are you thinking on implementing those tasks to see if there might be a shorter or better path
(there are over 220 source files)
- Once you have enough code/functionality to be TESTED send it to me and I will add you to the developers group.
As you can see its up to you to reach the step 5, you can ask me as many things as you want, there are no stupid or simple questions, and as many of you..I am here to help and to learn
Hope to hear from you soon
If you really like decoding files there are some tasks at hand :
- Implement the decoding/parsing of GuitarPro version 5 (*.GP5) files:
- Make sure you have read and understood the GP4 file format
- Use source code from other open source projects that implemnt GP5 decoding like TuxGuitar
- Implement the decoding/parsing of PowerTab (*.ptb) files:
For any of the above tasks is good to read Source Code Documents
